Abstract:Objective To analyze the growth and development of premature infants aged 0-12 months in Tongzhou District of Beijing according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and Chinese standards, and to provide basis for monitoring and intervention of growth and development of premature infants.Methods Data were collected from the electronic monitoring system of maternal and child health in Tongzhou District. Subjects were the live births born in Tongzhou District from October 2, 2012 to October 30, 2017 and received routine physical examination within 12 months after birth. Information on the length and weight of premature infants and full-term infants from birth to 12 months were collected. Differences in length by month, weight by month, growth retardation rate and low weight rate at 12 months were compared.Results The average body weight and length of full-term and preterm infants aged 0-12 months were higher than the WHO standard (2006) and the Chinese standard (2009). Premature infants began to catch up with or even exceed full-term infants of the same age from the age of 2 months after correction. At the age of 12 months, the growth retardation rate and low weight rate of premature infants were higher than those of full-term infants, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.001).Conclusion The growth and development of premature infants in Tongzhou District is better, but some premature infants still have the phenomenon of backward growth even after the correction of month age. The malnutrition of premature infants still needs attention.
