Abstract:Objective To characterize the status of internal quality control for quantitative assays related to pre-conception health in local settings. Methods Data of internal quality control for quantitative assays from 81 local pre-conception health laboratories were collected. Integrity of the quality control charts, correctness of the judgment and imprecision of assays were analyzed. Results Forty-seven out of 81 (58.0%) laboratories had data of the preceding four months or shorter, and 34 of the 81 laboratories had data of 5 months or longer. In those 34 laboratories, 20 (58.8%) had complete quality control charts, and 12 (35.3%) had correct judgment. One hundred and ninety-nine out of 1 565 (12.7%) assays did not reach the recommended imprecision level. Conclusion The internal quality control did not meet the requirement in term of timeliness, correctness and imprecision for some laboratory assays in local settings. Training is recommended to improve the quality of service.
