Abstract:Objective Based on standards of suitability assessment of materials(SAM), this study was to establish health education written material for Kegel exercise and compare the effect with current regular material.Methods An expert group was set up to compile the Kegel exercise material, and made the first version. After the pre-survey conducted among 30 patients and revisions, final version was formed. A self-designed questionnaire survey was conducted in 145 women (aged 40-60) who came from the gynecological clinic of the outpatient, ward and community. 72 women were in the intervention group and read the health education written material, 73 women were in the control group and read the regular materials. The questionnaire survey was conducted before and after reading the materials. Scores on knowledge on Kegel exercises and subjective evalution of the materials.Results There was no significant difference between the intervention group and the control group in the background situation and the reading materials of the health education, which meant the two groups was in line with the homogeneity. There was statistically significant difference between the groups on the scores on knowledge on Kegel exercises and subjective evaluation of each item (P<0.01), among which the highest difference was the integrality dimension and the lowest difference was the enjoyment dimension.Conclusion The Kegel exercise health education written material which was compiled according to SAM has received better health education effect and subjective evaluation, which can be used in the health education of Kegel exercise.
