Correlationanalysis between testicular spermatogenic function and reproductive hormones in 308 patients with Sertoli cell-only syndrome

Abstract:Objective To analyze the value of reproductive hormone ratio in assessing testicular spermatogenic function. Methods The clinical data of 308 patients who were diagnosed with non-obstructive azoospermia, Sertoli cell-only syndrome with testicular pathology outside the hospital, and required artificial insemination with donor were analyzed retrospectively. According to whether there is sperm in vitro, they were divided into cryptozoospermic group and azoospermic group. We compared the differences in reproductive hormone levels and genetic indicators between the two groups, and analyzed the value of those indicators in testicular spermatogenic function of patients with Sertoli cell-only syndrome. Results The mean FSH/LH ratio of study population was 2.4, of which the value was 2.0 among the cryptozoospermic group was significantly lower than 2.5 in the azoospermic group (P=0.001). However, there were no significant differences between the two groups in FSH, LH, PRL, T, FSH/T and LH/T ratio. The two groups differed significantly in chromosomal abnormality and AZF gene deletion (P<0.001). Conclusion Combined with chromosome and AZF gene, FSH/LH ratio has more reference value in the evaluation of testicular spermatogenic function of the patients with Sertoli cell-only syndrome, relative to indicators of testicular volume, semen volume, semen pH value, FSH, LH, PRL, T, FSH/T ratio and LH/T ratio.
