Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of letrozole (LE) and urinary gonadotropin (HMG) treatment for ovulation induction in pregnancy of intrauterine insemination. Methods 156 intrauterine insemination(IUI) cases (200 cycles)with different ovulation induction using letrozole (LE), urinary gonadotropin (HMG) and natural cycle (NC) were collected from reproductive clinic in our hospital from June 2015 to October 2016, and the clinical data and pregnancy outcomes were analyzed. Results The endometrial thickness of LE group was significantly lower than that of HMG group (P<0.05), and no significant difference between LE and NC group was observed; the number of dominant follicles and ovulation in LE and HMG group were significantly higher than NC group (P<0.05), LE group compared with HMG group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The clinical pregnancy rate of LE and HMG group were higher than that of NC group(P<0.05), however, LE group compared with HMG group, no significant difference were observed in clinical pregnancy rate, and a significant difference was observed in pregnancy and OHSS rate (P<0.05). Conclusion Ovulation induction therapy can effectively improve the clinical pregnancy rate of IUI. Compared to HMG, LE was much safer, which not only could improve the clinical pregnancy rate, but also reduce the risk of multiple pregnancy and OHSS.
