Abstract:Objective To obtain knowledge level about human papilloma virus (HPV) and HPV vaccine among gynecological outpatients in order to provide the basis for promoting HPV vaccination. MethodsOne thousand women from the Department of Gynecology of Xi’an Fourth Hospital were randomly selected and interviewed.Results 32.5% of the women had ever heard of HPV. There was a significant difference in HPV awareness among respondents of different age groups, education levels, and professional groups (all Ps<0.05). 76.0% of the participants showed willingness to accept HPV vaccination. Women who were concerned about HPV infection (32.1%) or cervical cancer (26.1%) were more willing to accept HPV vaccination. 56.5% of the women reported that they would receive HPV vaccine at a cost of 50 to100 RMB. 49.9% of the women responded that they would like to receive vaccines provided by the government as compared to 40.8% of women who preferred vaccines from medical institutions.Conclusion The HPV awareness was low in outpatient women. It is very important to strengthen public health education and disseminate information about HPV vaccine.
