Analysis of TORCH test results of sperm donors in the Human Sperm Bank of Guangdong Province

Abstract：Objective By analyzing the TORCH(Toxoplasma gondii TOX, Rubella virus RV, Cytomegalovirus CMV, Herpes simplex virus HSV) test results of sperm donors, to provide suggestions for the screening of TORCH infected volunteers in human sperm bank . Methods A retrospective analysis was made on the results of serum tests for TORCH IgM antibodies among donors in Guangdong Human Sperm Bank from 2016 to June 2018. The positive rate of each pathogen of TORCH and the results of one month and two months after the initial detection of positive antibodies were counted, and the negative rate of antibodies was calculated. Results A total of 2808 volunteers were tested for TOX, RV, CMV, and HSV antibodies, with infection rates of 0.93%, 1.28%, 1.92%, and 0.64%, respectively. HSV antibody positive volunteers were disqualified from sperm donation. In the absence of drug intervention, 61.5%, 58.3% and 46.3% of TOX, RV and CMV IgM positive volunteers returned to the sperm bank for blood re-examination one or two months later, with the natural negative conversion rates of 50.00%, 47.62% and 20.00%, respectively. Conclusion Due to the difficulty in recruiting volunteers, it is necessary to increase the qualified rate of donors. It is meaningful to re-examine the volunteers with positive TORCH IgM antibodies, but the prolonged interval of re-examination will not increase the natural conversion rate of TORCH antibodies.
