Abstract:Objective To understand the situation of child sexual abuse (CSA) prevention in elementary schools of a city in Northeast China, and to provide references for promoting school-based CSA prevention work.Methods A total of 24 teachers from 8 elementary schools were investigated using semi-structured interview outline in Northeast China in May 2019.Results In terms of knowledge, of the 21 teachers who answered the questionnaire, all teachers were aware of physical contact CSA (such as touching private parts, etc.), and 42.9% (9 / 21) teachers were aware of non-physical contact CSA. In terms of attitude and willingness, all teachers agreed that it was necessary to carry out education on prevention of CSA in parents; 20 teachers agreed that it was necessary to carry out CSA prevention education to children. In terms of the implementation of education project on prevention of CSA, only 2 teachers participated in the training, 11 teachers expressed that their school carried out education on the prevention of child sexual abuse.Conclusion The surveyed teachers in elementary school are lack of knowledge about child sexual abuse and related education implementation currently was not enough. It′s necessary to strengthen relevant training and promote education program on CSA prevention in elementary schools.
