Prevalenceand influence factors of depressive symptoms during late pregnancy

Abstract:Objective To describe the prevalence of depressive symptoms during late pregnancy among pregnant in Tongzhou District of Beijing, and explore influence factors of depressive symptoms during late pregnancy.Methods Based on the Peking University Birth Cohort in Tongzhou from June 2018 to December 2019, the demographic information, maternity history, sleep quality and depressive symptoms during late pregnancy of 3556 pregnant women were collected. Chi-square test and logistic regression model were used to explore the influence factors of depressive symptoms during late pregnancy.Results The prevalence of depressive symptoms during late pregnancy was 17.9%. Low education level (junior high school or below OR=1.52;95%CI:1.05-2.20; senior high school OR=1.36;95%CI:1.04-1.78), household per capita annual disposable income of less than 50,000 RMB (OR=1.41;95%CI:1.06-1.88), with adverse pregnancy history (OR=1.28; 95%CI:1.05-1.56) and poor sleep quality (OR=2.86; 95%CI:2.29-3.58) were influence factors of depressive symptoms during late pregnancy.Conclusion Pregnant women with low education level, low family income, adverse pregnancy history and poor sleep quality are more likely to have depressive symptoms during late pregnancy. Health service provider should strengthen depressive symptoms screening for pregnant women during late pregnancy with low education level, low family income, adverse pregnancy history and poor sleep quality and provide appropriate intervention for pregnant with depressive symptoms to reduce the occurrence of depression.
