Abstract:Objective To investigate the neonatal outcomes after short time insemination combined with early rescue intracytoplasmic sperm injection (early-RICSI).Methods We retrospectively analyzed the neonatal outcomes of live births born by patients who underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) or early-RICSI treatment between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2020 in Tongji Hospital. The interested outcomes included sex ratio, gestational age, birthweight, rate of preterm birth, very preterm birth, low birthweight, very low birthweight and macrosomia. The patients were divided into IVF group or Early-RICSI group, according to the types of fertilization. Finally, 4927 singletons and 2477 twins were included in IVF group, and 369 singletons and 161 twins were included in Early-RICSI group.Results Among singleton live births, no differences were observed between groups in cesarean rate, sex ratio, gestational age, rate of preterm birth and very preterm birth, birthweight, rate of low birthweight, very low birthweight and macrosomia. However, among twin live births, the mean birthweight in IVF group was significantly lower than early-RICSI group (adjusted mean difference and 95% confidence interval:52.3(13.8,90.9)g,P=0.008), while the cesarean rate, sex ratio, gestational age, rate of preterm birth and very preterm birth, rate of low birthweight, very low birthweight and macrosomia were comparable between groups after adjustment for confounding factors.Conclusions hort time insemination combined with early-RICSI treatment did not add extra risks to the neonatal outcomes.
