Objective To establish a rapid, serum and convenient method for the screening of cy-tomegalovirus (CMV) specific IgG antibody in sera samples of women of childbearing age, and to evaluate the preliminary significance of application. Methods The measurement of CMV-IgG was conducted by indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay using recombinant CMV-Ag (pp150 + 52) as coating antigen, and 700 IU/L as Cut-off value. Results The specific CMV-IgG antibodies in sera were detected in 1 024 women of childbearing age in Shenzhen, by using the method established by our study and the ELISA assay kid provided by Diasorin Co. The positive rate, negative rate, sensitivity of our method was 93. 3 %, 6.7 %, and 13 IU/L, respectively. The intrasasay coefficient of variation was between 4. 7 % - 7.0 % and the interassay coefficient of variation was between 7.6% - 14. 4 %. The Kappa value between our method and ELISA assay kid provided by Diasofin Co. was 0. 82, indicating a good relativity. Conclusion Our ELISA assay is a rapid, easy and convenient method and could be used for screening the CMV -IgG specific antibodies among premarital women.
