Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of intervention measures on condom use among migrants in three cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu. Methods In the three cities, four districts of each city were selected, using multi-stage cluster sampling, and the districts were randomly divided into intervention group and control group. Intervention measures were implemented in the intervention group, while routine family planning work was conducted in the control group. Then structured questioners were used to assess the effect. Results There were 1130 migrant workers who used condom in the baseline survey. After the intervention, the proportion of condom usage increased from 93.50% to 95.93% in Shanghai, 87.84% to 95.50% in Beijing, and 96.69% to 97.79% in Chengdu. Weighted least squares estimate model showed that intervention measures were associated with sustained condom use. Conclusion Intervention programmescan improve condom use in the floating population.
