Abstract：Objective To examine possible association between mode of delivery and hour bilirubin values according to the curve of mean hour bilirubin values of full-term newborns.Methods A total of 1796 full-term newborns born in our hospital were chosen, with gestational age of 37 weeks or more and birth weight of 2500 g or more. Transcutaneous bilirubin (TCB) was monitored every 6 h till 96 h after birth. The curve of mean hour bilirubin values was used to analyze the influence of mode of delivery on hour bilirubin values.Results Hour bilirubin values increased gradually with increasing hours after birth. There was a statistical significant difference between cesarean section and natural delivery at the same time after birth. Hour bilirubin values of high risk infant of cesarean section were higher than those of natural delivery at the same time after birth.Conclusion Normal hour bilirubin values of full-term newborns play an important role in the occurrence of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and in treatment. Hour bilirubin values of newborns of cesarean section were higher than those of natural birth.
