Abstract:Objective To compare prevalence of cervicitis by observing cervical cytology in married women using intrauterine device (IUD), condoms, oral contraceptives, or sterilization.Methods Data from 1941 healthy women who participated in the cervical cancer screening project of married women in Jiangsu Province in 2011 were analyzed by contraception methods: IUD, condom, oral contraceptive pill, or sterilization. Cervical cytology was performed by Pap smear and The Bethesda System (TBS) classification criteria.Results Cytology results of ASCUS or above showed 75 cases (5.4%) in IUD group, 58 cases in condom group (2.2%), 42 cases in oral contraceptive group (6.3%), and 31 cases in sterilization group (7.3%).Conclusion Cervical cytology changes seemed more common in women who used oral contraceptives and sterilization.
