Abstract：Objective To assess the physical development of children under 7 years old in Xicheng district of Beijing from 2005 to 2012, so as to provide scientific evidence for child health care.Methods Data from annual reports of child care for children aged 0~6 years during 2005-2012 were analyzed to describe the prevalence and trend of malnutrition (including underweight, stunting, and wasting) and obesity.Results From 2005-2012, the prevalence rate of underweight, stunting, and wasting was 1.1 (0.6~1.8 ) per 1000, 1.4 (1.0~1.9) per 1000, and 1.2 (0.8~1.6) per 1000, respectively. The prevalence rate of obesity was 45.9(42.9~51.1) per 1000, with a declining trend.Conclusion The physical development of children under 7 years old in Xicheng district is appropriate. Obesity has become one of the major health problems. Future efforts are needed for obesity prevention and intervention.
