Abstract:Objective To assess pelvic floor muscle function in postpartum women in Weihai City.Methods A total of 4935 women who were followed-up after 6-8 weeks after delivery were investigated. Detailed medical history was obtained, and regular pelvic examination and pelvic floor functional testing were performed.Results There were 34.2% of women who had impaired functions with pelvic floor I class muscle fibers. Age, delivery mode, prolapsed pelvic organ and parties were associated with impaired functions of pelvic floor muscle for in women 6 - 8 weeks after delivery. There were 39.2% of women who had impaired functions with pelvic floor II class muscle fibers. Delivery mode, prolapsed pelvic organ and gravidities were associated with impaired functions of pelvic floor II class muscle fiber in women after 6-8 weeks of delivery.Conclusion Impaired pelvic floor muscle function was common among postpartum women, especially among the women with vaginal delivery and prolapsed pelvic organ.
