Abstract:Objective To examine the expression of miR-199a-5p and MMP-9 in the serum of patients with endometriosis, and the clinical significance was explored.Methods Using SYBR Green I real-time PCR and ELISA we detected the differential expression of miR-199a-5p and MMP-9 in 40 cases of endometriosis and 20 cases of health controls. We analyzed the correlation between miR-199a-5p and MMP-9 and their clinical implications. Results The expression level of miR-199a-5p was found to be decreased in the endometriosis group compared with the control group (P<0.05), and miRNA-199a-5p was negatively correlated with r-AFS staging of endometriosis (P=0.038), but had no relationship with the degree of dysmenorrhea (P=0.151). The expression level of MMP-9 in the endometriosis group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.01), and MMP-9 increased with r-AFS staging (P=0.028). No relationship with dysmenorrhea degree (P=0.174) was observed. The expression level of miR-199a-5p and MMP-9 was significantly negatively correlated.Conclusion miR-199a-5p and MMP-9 may be involved in the pathogenesis of endometriosis, which may be related to the abnormal regulation of miRNA.
