Abstract:Objective Based on the Social Ecological Theory, it aims to investigate the current situation and influencing factors of fertility intention among mothers who had given preterm birth infants and provide reference for the implementation of “Two-child policy” and “Three-child policy” and the improvement of fertility support policies. Methods This study is based on data from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) in 2018, which is conducted by Institute of Social Science Survey, Peking University and covers 25 provinces/municipalities/autonomous regions. The CFPS questionnaire mainly includes four thematic surveys:community, family, adults, and children, aimed to collect data at the individual, family, and community levels. This study focuses on mothers who had given birth to premature infants. According to the inclusion criteria of gestational age <37 weeks and age ≥18 years, 6 510 samples and 431 samples were excluded respectively. 149 samples were excluded for invalid and missing data. Finally, a total of 1 645 samples were included. A retrospective analysis was conducted to describe the current status of reproductive intentions among mothers of premature infants, and the influencing factors of reproductive intentions were analyzed using chi-square tests and binary logistic regression analysis. Results Among 1 645 subjects, 24.8%(408/1 645)of whom had the desire to have another child, and 1182 (71.9%) wished to have two children, one male and one female are the main type. Logistic regression analysis revealed that age (30<- ≤ 35 years old, 40<- ≤ 45 years old,>45 years old), education (Junior high school, Senior high school/Vocational school/Technical school/Trade school, Undergraduate and above), the number of existing children (2, 3 and above), annual family education expenditure of 5 000 yuan or above , and the importance of “Descendant continuation” (general, important, very important) are significant factors influencing fertility intention. Conclusion The willingness to have another child among mothers who had given preterm birth is not high, and it is influenced by age, education, current number of children, family education expenditure, and the traditional concept of “Descendant continuation”.
