Abstract:Objective To analyze the effects of TNF-α and IL-6 levels in maternal blood during pregnancy on birth weight of offspring.Methods A total of 1 519 pregnant women who had been enrolled in the Guangzhou Birth Cohort Study from January 2015 to December 2016 and their singleton newborns were selected as subjects. The relationship between different levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in the maternal peripheral venous blood during pregnancy and the birth weight of the offspring were analyzed with the linear and multivariate logistic regression models.Results The average concentration of TNF-α in second trimester serum was(26.1±19.0) pg/mL, and the average concentration of IL-6 was(3.8±2.8) pg/mL. There was no significant association between neonatal birth weight and maternal blood TNF-α(β=0,95%CI:0-0)as well as IL-6(β=0,95%CI:-0.02-0.02). The effects of maternal peripheral blood TNF-α(OR=1.01, 95%CI:1.00-1.01) and IL-6(OR=1.01, 95%CI:0.95-1.08) on neonatal low birth weight risk were also not statistically significant.Conclusion There was no significant effect of the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in maternal peripheral blood on the birth weight of offspring. The relationship between maternal inflammatory factors and other outcomes of offspring still needs further study.
